With the flu season hitting us hard right now, thought I’d share four steps to get your medicine cabinet (drawer, container, shelf) looking and functioning beautifully, even though you may not be!
Step 1: Gather together any medicine-related items.
Step 2: Sort by category.
Category examples: adult, children, cough & cold, stomach, bandages, first aid, allergy, ear & eye, pain, prescription, vitamins, pet
Step 3: Toss anything that has expired.
Helpful link: Proper disposal
Step 4: Determine best location to keep, and then place grouped items.
- Use containers of some kind to keep neat, easy to get to and easy to put away:
- Label containers or shelves:
- To best utilize vertical part of shelf, use drawer organizer:
- Put frequently used items in easiest to access section – keeping out of reach of little ones, of course. TIP: When running low on item you need to have on hand, add it to your grocery list so always in stock.
- IMPORTANT! OPIOIDS: If you have teens / young adults in your home, PLEASE LOCK UP THESE MEDS + dispose of properly! CLICK HERE for more info.)
- Attach medical dosage, CPR / emergency instructions or other helpful info inside cabinet door for quick access.
- TIP: For everyday vitamins, supplements and pills, use a pill organizer. Even though it doesn’t seem like much, the time you spend having to open bottles daily adds up!
Stay warm – and well!
xoxo
